Trillion Wireless Network Provides Immediate Educational Benefits to Students at Bloomfield School District

Austin, TX – December 7, 2006 – Trillion, the leading provider of broadband network, Internet and voice services for education announces Bloomfield School District in Bloomfield, NM, is opening doors to their students through their new high speed wireless WAN network by providing access to technology based learning tools and Internet access.

The network which Trillion completed in September, connects over 3,300 students, educators and administrators to the latest web based educational tools, resources, communication and state-of-the-art security available.   

The network connects 9 sites including the administration building, 4 elementary schools, 1 middle school and 2 high schools and provides up to 100 times the speed of the previous network.

“The network has already had a significant impact on the district,” said Sondra Adams, Technology Director for Bloomfield.  “With this service in place we have greatly improved our students’ ability to access new web based resources and tools, which include short cycle assessment, individualized electronic lessons, Internet access and student assessment and demographic information.”

The new educational network has already been beneficial to the district by providing:

  • Improved school operations efficiencies
  • Centralization and management of servers and applications
  • Streamlining of school business operations including finance, student management and operational systems
  • Increased security through central monitoring of each school via streaming video.
  • Voice over the network (Voice over IP) is planned to be rolled out in 2007.

Bloomfield School District

Bloomfield School District covers 1,500 square miles in the Northwest corner of New Mexico.  The District serves 3,200 students ranging from age 2 to grade 12.  The student population in the District is 34% Caucasian, 30% Hispanic and 35% Native American.  Technology resources are used to instruct, present material, assign student work and assess student progress.

Several models of instruction are utilized including computer labs, classroom computers, student laptops, smart classrooms and on-line instructional software.  The technology goal for students is to establish a technological environment that is easily and readily accessible by all students and staff that will support and enhance the educational goals of the district.
